Start-ups and side hustles are on the rise with more people quitting their nine-to-five to go it alone. Being a start-up ourselves, we wanted to meet and speak with some of our favourite creative entrepreneurs who are changing the start-up game and revolutionising creative business.

We chose The Curtain as our location for this more intimate event and our pioneering panel included world famous graphic artist Anthony Burrill, Tatty Devine co-founder Harriet Vine MBE, Paul Firmin & Niko Dafkos of lifestyle brand Earl Of East, & founder of We Built This City Alice Mayor.

From getting started, “Setting up a business is the biggest crash course in self-awareness” (Alice Mayor), to creative collaborations, “It’s important to find the right fit with collaborations, where you don’t have to compromise too much” (Anthony Burrill), to finding a balance, “It’s not about work/life balance but work/life integration” (Earl of East), our fearless founders shared their inspiring stories and provided insider tips on how to navigate the rocky road to success.

We came away feeling ready to take on the world, and two of our attendees left with  a signed ‘Work Hard & Be Nice To People’ print by Anthony Burrill.

About So Curious

So Curious is an event series curated by Soho Curious & Co for the creative community. Each month we take over a popular east London location to host an evening of creative conversations and workshops to spark your curiosity.

For each event we invite leaders from across the creative world to provide undiluted inspiration and real life stories about their businesses and practices. Alongside the panel, So Curious has played host to workshops, pop up shops and exhibitions to inspire, surprise and delight its audiences.
